Chapter One
Introduction
Introduction of Organization

The rural for community Development ( RICOD ) established in 2051 BS is registered at the Lalitpur district administration office and has been affiliated with the social welfare council. Since its inception it has been working with women, children and youth in the sectors in the sector of basic health, education, peace and development.
A board of 9 persons governs RICOD. The board is elected once every five years and meets every three month. There are 18 female and 20 male general members who assemble once a year for the general assembly. A member have experience in planning and implementation of community development, community health and relief and implementation of community development also have experience working in rural areas and have skills in health, nutrion and HIV/AIDS.
RICOD has had partnerships with Terre des homes, Mennonite central committee, World's vision international, European Union, MAMTA health institute for mother and child India, SOLID Nepal, Chemonics International USAID, District Development Committee Lalitpur, Merlin Nepal, Canadian Foodgrans Bank, Beyond Beijing committee, Volunteer service Overseas and Restless Development.
1.2 Vision of the Organization

Establishment of equitable society for dignified co-existence of focus group deprived of access and control over services and facilities.

Organizing and empowering focus of group through  participatory processes of fulfill their rights.

1.4 Objectives of the organization
·         To raise awareness and enhance focus groups access to basic health services and nutrition.
·         To support early childhood and basic education.
·         To empower youths for social transformation that enables them to work for dignified, peaceful families and communities.
·         To promote rural energy and supports local groups through environment friendly agriculture and non agriculture and non agriculture intervention. To assist focus groups for disaster risk management.

1.5 Activities of the organization
1.5.1 Nutrition training to adolescent
The adolescent nutrition training was successfully conducted in 9 schools of 5 VDCs. It was observed that the participation of girls was higher than that of boy's. i.e 111 boys and 231 girls; total participation was more than planned due to the interest among adolescents in participation. The training content was focused on how to effectively maintain the health status of the girl child who is expected to be the future mother. The content of the training was; knowledge of the three groups  of food, importance of food security, importance of ANC/PNC visits, breastfeeding techniques and its importance, causes and symptoms of anemia and causes and prevention of malnutrition.
1.5.2 Materials and equipment supports
RICOD coordinated with the respective health institutions at the VDC level to understand request for essential materials so as to reduce home delivers and increase ANP/PNC visits and growth monitoring. Similarly, coordination took place in district level for the assurance of material support to respective health institutions. This activity has successfully been completed in the month of many. The health institutions demanded the essential materials and were supported.



Chapter TWO
Internship
2.1 Introduction to social work.
Social work is a practice-based profession and an academic discipline that promotes social change and development, social cohesion, and the empowerment and liberation of people. Principle of social justice, human rights, collective responsibility and respect for diversities are central to social work. Underpinned by theories of social work, human sciences, humanities and indigenous knowledge, social social work engages people and structure to address life challenge and social work is a practice profession and an academic discipline that recognizes that interconnected historical, socio-economical, culture, spatial and development. Structure barriers contribute to the perpetuation of inequalities, discrimination, exploitation, and oppression. The development of critical consciousness through reflection on structural source of oppression and/or privilege, on the basis of criteria such as race class, language, religion, gender, disability, culture and sexual orientation, and developing action strategies toward addressing structural and personal barriers are central to emancipators practice   where the goals are the empowerment and liberation of people. In solidarity with those  who are disadvantaged, the profession strives to alleviate poverty, liberate the vulnerable and oppressed, and promote social inclusion and social cohesion.
The social change mandate is based on the premise that social work intervention takes place when the current situation, be this at the level of the person, family, small group, community or society, is deemed to be in need of change and development. It is driven by the need to challenge and change those structural conditions that contribute to marginalization, social exclusion and oppression. Social change initiatives recognize the place of human agency in advancing human rights and economic, environmental, and social justice. The profession is equally committed to the maintenance of social stability in so far as such stability is not used to marginalized exclude or oppress any particular groups of persons. Social development is conceptualizes to mean strategies for intervention, desired and states and a policy framework, the latter in addition to the more popular residual and the institutional frameworks. It is based on holistic bio-psychosocial, spiritual assessments that transcend the micro-macro divide, incorporating multiple system levels and inter-sectional and inter-professional collaboration, aimed at sustainable development.

2.2 Introduction to Internship
Internships provide real world experience to those looking to explore or gain the relevant knowledge and skills required to enter into a    particular career field Internships are relatively short term in nature with the primary focus on getting some on the job training and talking what's learned in the classroom and applying it to the real world .Interns generally have a supervisor   who assigns specific tasks and evaluates the interns overall work. For internships for credit, usually a faculty sponsor will work along with the site supervisor to ensure that the necessary learning is taking place. Interns can be high school or college students or even adults interested in trying out a new career. Many college students do internships to gain relevant experience in a particular career field as well as to get exposure to determine if they have a genuine interest in the field. Internships are an excellent way to begin building those all important connections that are invaluable in developing and maintaining a strong professional network for the future.
Each year students thousands of students gain experience by doing summer internships. Some student decide to do multiple internships in the same field while other student may choose to get their feet wet doing a number of different things in order to make a more informed decision. Since employers in today's competitive job market look to hire individuals with relevant experience, it is in a student's best interest to complete several internships during their college years. 
2.3 Objective of the internship
There are many objectives of internship, some major of internship are given below:
·         To convert theoretical knowledge into practical learning.
·         To fulfill the requirement of BA  BSW course.
·         To know how INGO and NGO    work on various fields developing personally and professionally while gaining confidence and real-world experience.
·         Meeting and networking with practitioners in ones area of interest.
·         To p obtain performance feedback from the site supervisor.
·         Earning academic credit while getting paid.
·         To get immediate gain relevant experience.

2.4 Objectives of social work internship
·                     To use research, knowledge and skill that advance social work practice.
·                     To integrate social work theory with social work practice and to apply theoretical knowledge.
·                     TO fulfill requirement of BASW course.
·                     To identify and analyze critical social problems and to understand their impact.
2.5 Objective of trainee
·         To achieve the opportunities to test their attitude for a particular career before permanent commitment are made.
·         To develop skills and technique directly applicable to their career.
·         To increases students sense of responsibility and for higher level of academic performance.
·         To provide students with an in-depth knowledge of the formal functional activities of participating organization.




Chapter Three
Activities carried out by trainee
3.1 Activity No. 1 Participation in introduction program 
Objective
TO build rapport with the member of the organization.
To interact with participant from different sector.

Activity in detail
Trainee involved in introduction program which was set by associated program officer to make briefing of the rural Institution for development  (RICOD), its objectives and activities and the internee introduced themselves to the staff of RICOD as well as to each other.

Observation and Analysis
Trainee applied the principle of good communication and co-operation which is very importance while working in field. Trainee knew about the activities and goals of the organization.

Learning
·         Know about each other and importance of the introduction session.
·         Learned the skill of speaking.
·         Got knowledge about the value of education.
3.2 Activity No.2 Spelling competition
Objective
Ø  To make students creative.
Ø  To learn about the way of organization program.
Ø  To make students active in activities.
Activity in details
Internee and the other team members organized an speech competition for the students of class 3 and 1 of ganna jamuna school, Lele, Lalitpur  as an extra curricular activity and for entertainment. Trainee and the other team members entertained the students by involving them in other extra curriculam activities as well.




Observation and analysis
Trainee used the principle of acceptance and co-ordination working in the child education sector. Trainee also maintain rapport with the children and the teachers of that school.
Learning
·         Learnt to make program effective.
·         Learn to do team work.
·         Learn to have faith and patience.

3.3 Activity No. 3 Files coding and documents
Objectives
Ø  To save the information for future reference.
Ø  To manage files in a proper manner and serially.
Activity in detail
Internee involved in files coding program which was organizes in order to code the files of survey which was done in the remote areas of Lalitpur in order to know the economical status and sanitation issue of the people living there and to arrange and manage them properly. During the program, internee was able to maintain good relation among the team members and the volunteers.

Observation and Analysis
Trainee applied the technique of micro level social work such as listening, coding and typing as well as verbal and non-verbal behaviours and rapport building while working with the volunteers to manage and save files for future reference.
Learning
·         To code files and keep record.
·         Learnt to mange files and documents them.
3.4 Activity No. 4 Participation in closing party
Objective
Ø  To build good relation with the staffs and volunteers.
Ø  To know about the improvement, achievement and challenges.



Activity in details
Trainee involved in the closing party of the files coding and documentation session. Trainee and the other  team members go to known eachother deeply.

Observation and analysis
Trainee built good relation among the staff members and the volunteers and applied the principle of acceptance and non-judgemental attitude. Trainee interacted with the team members while involving at the closing party of coding and documentation session.

Learning
·         Good rapport with the staff and board members of the organization.
·         Know about achievement and challenges.


3.5 Activity no. 5 Participation in Training
Objective
Ø   To widen ones horizon of knowledge.
Ø  To build self-confidence level.
Activity in details
The trainee involved in the training on the topic of leadership with the motive of personal development. Trainee got to know about the growth mindset and fixed mindset. Trainee also learn about the qualities that a leader must have like confidentiality, honest and integrity, creative etc. Trainee go to of team work and presentation which enhance personal development.
Observation and analyzing 
 Trainee applied the principle of objective and co-ordination which is very important being a student of social work. Trainee also did team work and learnt about the mindset and core concept from the training which was held by centre for creative leadership(CCL)
Learning
·         Learnt about fixed and growth mindset.
·         Learn about the importance of team work.

Chapter Four
Analysis and Experience
4.1 Observation and analysis
Trainee wants to thank RICOD because from RICOD trainee learnt how to co-cooperate with student according to the situation. Trainee got new experiences in Social work field. Trainee got to entertain the students of Ganga jamuna School, Lele, Lalitpur. which is a little bit back warded on the basis of facilities. The students are lacking the quality education. Trainee felt interesting and exiting during the intern time. The trainee got to know a lot of things while working with the team members. the overall time spent in RICOD gave the trainee new experiences.
Trainee also wants to thank Mr. Rahari Ghimire and other staff members who are working for the betterment of the community. They taught me how to co-operate with everyone. They also shared their experiences, ideas and knowledge. They are my inspiration and motivator in the field.
4.2 Overall Learning
Trainee learn empowering community people's and the poor among the rural communities to contribute for the sustainability  of their activities.
Trainee learn empowering NGOs to further improve the effectiveness, impact and sustainability of their efforts by identifying best tools for impact monitoring and evaluation and best practices in the area of savings and credit.
Trainee learn how to make social changes more visible in implementing and funding NGOs thus improving the development policy work.
Trainee learns to improve public recognition of NGOs and CNOs and their contribution to development.
Trainee learns to work with the sense of responsibility and mutual understanding.



4.3 Personal Feelings
Being a part of an NGO like RCOD is a wonderful feeling. Its tremendous opportunity for a trainee to work under the experts who has been working for the betterment of community and for peace from a long time as a representative of the Government and of various INGO's. It feels glad to get various teaching as well as learning trainings and personality development trainings from the respective experts who are the board members of the organization. Moreover, the organization provides an opportunity to expose with the volunteers who were involved in the coding and documentation session. The trainee felt proud to work with such a helping and supportive family.



Chapter Five
Code of Ethics of NASW and Principles Applied
5.1 Principles Applied
while working in the organization, the Trainee applied the following principlws.
Principle of Individualization
Social work trainee found each student different and every one of them had their own uniqueness and inherent values. Each student was free from biasness and every student were equally treated.
Principle of active Participation
Social work trainee actively took part in every class and programs. Trainee attends programs and sessions actively. Trainee also took part in field visits and follow-up Trainee also taught something new and interesting to the students in a creative way.
Principle of Communication
Communication is the main mean for the relation build up between the staffs and the team members. Trainee established a good relation among the staffs and the seniors as well as the volunteers.
Principle of Acceptance
Social work trainess accepted the entire environment of the organization without any hesitation. Even with the different perception destroyed reality, social woker maintains good realtion among the entire staff and seniors.
Principle of Co-operation
Social work trainee established healthy relation and trust with various activites, to understand the value and basis of cooperation. Trainee created a mutual help and cooperation for their assistance, support to develop reading habit and culture.
5.2 Applied Code of Ethics of NASW
·         Identity the core issue.
·         To summarize ethical principle.
·         To help social work to identify relevant considerations. ethical dilemmas or professional obligations, conflicts.
·         To make social work profession accountable.
·         To articulate and maintain standard of social work profession.


6.1 SOWT Analysis of Organization
Strength
As this origination is established in order to give equal priority to the community, it always focuses towards it. It has  done its best to provide facilities and maintain peace in the community. It encourages and empowers youths for  the development of the community.

Weakness
Trainee cannot ignore the fact that, as this organization is for community development but still there is a lack of foresight vision and broader areas to address the problem, to provide service in a massive way which might bring huge impact In life of those children who are still in backward because of society terms.

Opportunity
It has tremendous opportunity to commerce other brances of the organization. It can make more access with both national and international donor agency to conduct various activities among massive number of children. So that they can figure out the actual needs of present generation which is hard for organization indeed.

Threat
Trainee found the students weak in vocabulary as well as they are not creative in any other activates  and the internsarenot getting proper facilities.

6.2 SWOT Analysis of Trainee

Strength
Traineee has good co-operation and co-ordination with the staffs and team members of the organization . Trainee has an interpersonal skill to interact with the staffs.

Weakness
Trainee was not able to present ideas and views of own infront of others. Trainee was unable to handle difficulties.

Opportunities
RICOD is a huge platform for the trainee to experience and gain knowledge. Trainee got an opportunity to serve children's with all love and support.

Threat
Trainee has threat to deliver the result in time. Trainee wasn't able to do any sort of work efficiently.

Chapter Seven
Summary, Conclusion and Recommendation

7.1. Summary and Conclusion
 RICOD is a Non- profit organization working in the field of early childhood development, basic health, peace, education and development with an aim of contributing to the development of the whole community. It has launched various program which has shown its remarkable performance. It has been providing wonderful internship opportunity for students of social work who can have a learning experience regarding the  social work profession in one hand as well as fulfill the 250 hours of internship . The organization provides various trainings and opportunities to internee on personality development as well as leaning methods so that its program different international and national NGOs and INGOs to provide different trainings and facilities to the people of rural area. Hence, internees get wonderful opportunity to work under the experts, learn various skills and techniques and get a change to expose them in a competitive world.

7.2 Recommendation
For Organization
·         The Organization should find out a regular source of income and hire some more staff to work during office hours.
·         The college should be informed and their activates should be monitored carefully.

For College
·         The college should check if the students are being honest with their work or not.
·         The field supervisor should be in regular contact with the organization and know about the internee's behavior.
